This year, in light of the pandemic, instead of br This year, in light of the pandemic, instead of bringing to you a new Travis County History Day event, we will be looking back at the History Day events we’ve held over the past 12 years. On November 13, we will be launching a series of online exhibits that include excerpts and imagery from past events. This virtual retrospective covers a wide range in topics: the Heman Marion Sweatt Travis County Courthouse; William B. Travis, namesake of the county; early settlement of the area; current and former elected officials; changes in the county from early days to present day; the history of law enforcement; county extension services; folk art and cultural crossroads; Travis County alumni; histories and mysteries; the anniversary of World War I; and finally, genealogy.  Stay tuned!

Packed with information about rural schools, teachers, and students, the book is an excellent resource for genealogists, researchers, educators and more. Thank you to the Travis County Historical Commission for working with the Archives to get this book digitized and online.
